Featured Hotel: Al Murjan Palace Hotel, Jounieh

Every hotel on OODA gets a proper introduction. We are starting with Al Murjan Palace Hotel in Jounieh — the first property live on the platform, and the one we know best.

Why it works as a daycation

Jounieh is the right distance from Beirut. Far enough that the traffic and the noise stop; close enough that you have not spent your day driving. For most of Beirut, Al Murjan is a twenty to thirty minute run up the coast.

What makes the property itself suit day-use is that it was built for the view. The bay sits below you and Harissa sits above you, and a good number of the rooms have a balcony pointed at one or the other. That matters more for a day booking than a night booking — you are actually awake to look at it.

What is included

Day guests are hotel guests. That means the pool, the facilities and 24/7 reception, plus what is in the room: air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom, a desk and workspace, a balcony in most categories, and a bathtub or jacuzzi in several. Housekeeping runs daily, and the hotel has air purifiers in the rooms.

Three ways people use it

The work day. Morning session, desk by the window, reliable power and air conditioning. You will get more done between 6am and noon than you would in a full day at home, and it costs less than a co-working desk.

The pool day. Afternoon session. Swim, lunch, shower, drive home clean and unhurried at six. Cheaper than most beach clubs on the same coast, and you get a room to change in.

The occasion. A suite, an afternoon, a sea view, and no one asking when you are coming home. This is the booking people are quietest about and happiest with.

Practical notes

Bring ID — reception will check you in properly, the same as any guest. Arrive at the start of your session if you want the full six hours. If you want the pool, the afternoon block is the one.
